Hojojutsu #1

Another art transmitted within Masaki-ryu Nakajima-ha is known as hojojutsu (arresting cord art). Once an assailant
was taken down by the feudal Japanese police, they would be bound with one of the cords you see below (from left,
torinawa/hojo, fundo-tsuki nawa, kan-tsuki nawa, and kaginawa). Restraint with each of these tools is actively taught
and practiced in line with juttejutsu in our school.

There are few extant schools of juttejutsu and hojojutsu today, with many of them transmitting these arts as separate
entities. Masaki-ryu Nakajima-ha is rare in that it transmits winning over an assailant with juttejutsu together with
restraint with hojojutsu as a complete combination.
